 Principal's Message:  

I hope that you are enjoying this beautiful holiday weekend!  As we think about the end of the year, you may see different reactions from your students:  excitement, boundless energy, sadness, and unexpected behavior all come to mind.  Please let us know how we can support your students if you are noticing this at home, as we are seeing beginning to see this at school.  Please remind your students of being "respectful, responsible and kinder than necessary!"  Thank you for your partnership.

On a similar note, our 8th grade students will be touring the high school on one of these days:  June 1st, June 2nd or June 7th (based on Science teacher).  We will be taking a bus to the high school.  If you do NOT wish for your student to attend, please fill out this opt-out form and we will have an alternate location for your student.  Please check the email sent by Mrs. Stager on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 for all of the details or in the transition section of this blog below.

Students will not be keeping the district device that was checked out to them for summer school or summer classes; they will need to request that device through either CE or Special Ed depending on the program.


Time to sell your Used Band Instruments!

If you have a band instrument that you're looking to sell to a beginning band student, here is your chance!  Our Heritage music students have recently been assigned to their music class for next fall and many families are looking to purchase a used instrument for their beginner.  If you have a band instrument that you'd like to sell, please complete this google form and we will share your contact information only when asked about sales for a specific instrument (flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone, baritone, percussion kit).

SALINE MIDDLE SCHOOL DAILY SCHEDULE FOR ALL STUDENTS:



Please bring your charged devices with a power cord. A friendly reminder that in-person learners are expected to bring their changed devices to school each day. While we provided loaner devices for some students last week, students are expected to bring their device. 

Attendance Change for 3rd trimester in-person students:  In-person students are expected to be in-person to be marked "Present." In-person students will be marked "Absent" if they call in for any reason that is not related to COVID-19.  Students would still be allowed to Zoom if they wish, but they will be marked "excused or unexcused absent" depending on the reason if they are not physically present at SMS.

Here are the details for the Continuous 4-day/week learning plan. (Same as the link in the principal's message)


Attendance Reminder:  We are finding that students are electing to learn virtually on a given day for a variety of reasons unrelated to a COVID-19 situation and this is becoming very difficult to track for classroom attendance, particularly in 7th and 8th grade.  

If your student is currently attending in-person for hybrid instruction, please send them to school on a consistent basis UNLESS they are showing the symptoms in the COVID-19 health screener graph below.  If your child is showing symptoms of COVID-19, then we would ask that they either get tested for COVID-19 or see their pediatrician.

If your student prefers to remain virtual for the remainder of the trimester, please email Laura Washington at washingl@salineschools.org


Item Drop Off and Pick-Up Times:  The Saline Middle School vestibule doors will be open from 7:00 am-4:00 pm Monday-Friday this week for drop off and pick-up of items.   


Report Cards:  Report cards are now available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.  If you are having difficulty accessing the Powerschool Parent Portal, please email  powerschool@salineschools.org.  Thank you for your patience as we have had difficulty sending report cards electronically this trimester.


NWEA Scores are now available in Powerschool!  Here are the directions to access them.


Food Pantry Locations: If you or someone you know are in need of food and food items during this difficult time, here is a list of food pantries in the area.

Attendance:  Please remember that if your child is going to be absent, even remotely, please call the Saline Middle School front office to report attendance at 734-401-4600; press #1 for attendance OR use the Google Form.  

Grades:  Please check Powerschool or Summit Platform as many teachers have begun to enter grades.  Please contact the technology department here if you are having difficulty accessing Powerschool.

Breakfast and lunch continue to be free for ALL students as long as Federal funding allows.

4/15/21 CHANGE in WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Date: 4/11/21 Dear Heritage 5th Grade Families: Thank you for taking the time to fill out these forms as they will help inform our classroom placements for the 2021-22 school year. Many factors are taken into account when creating classroom assignments.  Our primary concern is creating well-balanced classrooms that create optimal learning opportunities for all children. The Learning Management Form is required for all families to fill out as it will help us determine Summit and Google Classroom sections.  Please fill this form out by Sunday, April 25th at 11:59 pm.  If you do not fill this out, we will assume that there is no preference for the LMS. March 24, 2021 Here is the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) presentation from March 24, 2021. March 5, 2021 G ood Morning Class of 2026 and 2027 Families! As we prepare to develop 7th and 8th grade student schedules for the 2021-22 school year, our school counselors, Mrs. Chambers and Mr. Stimac, need the elective course and learning management system (Summit Learning, Google Classroom, or No Preference) selections for all students.
